Richard J Parfitt

Loved the story. It displayed the same down to earth wit that I loved so much when Richard was putting out records. I think he is one of the most underated writers, and songwriters of our generation. For those of you who haven't heard his music buy some. I loved his previous band 60ft Dolls and his solo album "Highlights In Slow Motion" is awsome. In fact we could do with a new records very soon.....pretty please Mr Parfitt!

Re: Richard J Parfitt

Let me know if you release anything. I've been searching MySpace for you but can't find anything. I found Carl's (Bevan), you should get a page and preview your stuff.

You hanging with students makes me smile...I bet you can tell them a storey or two about the rock n roll days!!!

Great to see you're on here writing stuff Richard, and still involved in music.

You may not remember, but our paths crossed way back when (I still have every Dolls record...)

All the best -

Hey Ben, of course I remember you. I surf your webpage too, it's good reading. I remember your badge 'i love the no talents' it made me laugh then, and it's making me laugh now. As far as myspace goes, I think I missed the boat on the whole computer thing, my ten year old is more proficient than me. I hate mobile phones as well. I'm sort of a pen and paper guy...i know, i know...there's a revolution going on out there.

keep on rocking in the third world

Re: Richard J Parfitt

Here's a funny but very very true storey.

My favourite single when I was young (and still today) was Pig Valentine which I had on black vinyl, but when I got a flyer telling me I could post it back and in return I would recieve a lovely pink one, i did it immediately. Being young, stupid and a little bit exited about the whole thing, I forgot to include my return address and not surpisingly did not receive anything back. I thought my world had come to an end as I could not find a replacement copy. This moment haunted me for about 15 years. Until, on my 30th birthday (2 years ago) my best mate handed my my birthday present, and like the holy grail, there it was. A perfect copy of Pig Valentine on pink Vinyl...my life was complete! I think that was the happiest day of my life.....except for marrying my wife and having my first child of course!

Just thought I'd share that with you both.

Re: Richard J Parfitt

Ha!

I too have the aforementioned pink vinyl...

Giving the 6o Ft Dolls a so-so live review in Cardiff (1998?) for Melody Maker remains in my mind as one of the few pieces I have written that I sort of regret - if only because the band were still way more exciting than pretty much else that was going on in the UK at the time.

So, apologies Richard if you remember it...

(I don't remember the badge though! Too many spliffs in the meantime perhaps?)

Re: Richard J Parfitt

Awww, what i'd do for the musical return of the parfitt. 2002 was a long time ago. I'm sort-of remembering meeting mr parfitt once - possibly in Le Pub - definitely over 6 or 7 years ago, though.i'm a bit fuzzy on that..hmmm.

...My drunken days/haze of The Zone (swansea) as a blatant under-ager and later TJs (newport), dancin stupidly to 'Stay' 'Pig Valentine'....having a crush bigtime on richard parfitt...being freezing cold waiting for the dolls to come on at cardiff big noise festival....being pretty p*ssed off that I could hardly see...being a brat demanding my father taped it off telly (I still have that on video! heh heh) .... finding this just spurred me to look up 60ft dolls on youtube. i have just sat through 3 videos with a smile on my chops....now i have to go and do some work...my teenage days of michief are over...i'm a 29yr old mental health worker now who should know better (but the mischief remains)

would love to see some new stuff soon (writing and music) Mr Parfitt, if you read this, congrats on previous work ,good luck on future work and thank you for being part of the soundtrack to some of the best times of my life x
