Best times

Hey guys, My wife and I will be attending on the 22 of Sept for the first time. But we would like to know when is the best time to get into a beer tent because we would also like to look around. Or would you recommend that we make reservation for the beer tent & then when we get there just look around first & then go into a beer tent. We need all the help you can give thantk.

Re: Best times

Hi,

From Monday to Thursday you would probably be fine going to the Wiesn at about 2 or 3pm. Friday to Sunday you'd better be there before 11am or you'll find it very difficult to get a seat, or perhaps not even get into a tent.

I think you'll be very lucky if you are still able to get any reservations!

Re: Best times

Me (I'm from Indiana) and 3 friends from Germany had no problem getting into both the Hofbrau Tent and the Paulaner Tent on Sunday night the 19th (the news paper said that over 600 liters of Beer were sold that night alone). A new attendance record was set for opening weekend - so if we could waltz right in, you should have no problem. It was the best party I've ever been to. Total mayhem, but good people - didn't see any trouble. We stood at a table in the "Pig Pen" area of the Hofbrau tent - the waitresses were excellent - we tipped good, so we never waited long for beers.
At Paulaner we just went to somewhere near the center of the tent and jumped up on a table and started dancing with people who seemed happy to have some more dance partners. The service at Paulaner was excellent too. The fun at both tents was BEYOND WORDS! You'll have a blast. I would reverse what we did and go to Paulaner first, then close Hofbrau. Also, if your wife is pretty, she may get a lot more attention then you want in the Hofbrau tent - if you're the jealous type you may want to check out another tent. Paulaner seemed more safe in that department, but Hofbrau is a great time - it's your call, it's probably much more calm during the weekend.

Re: Re: Best times

I have a question, do you need to make reservations to get into all the beer tents? Im in the USA so how could I make reservations to get into the tents that require them?

The tents that take reservations, are they better(exciting)?
Thank,
Saint Marcus

Your holiness,

All tent are free to get into. You need to ask when your there what are the non reservation areas. Show up early around 12noon - 2pm and hold on to the entire table with your group. The only way to get beer is if your at a table. If your planning to attend by the end of this month don't bother with reservation just do as I had mention before. If your planning on going next year, then I recommend making reservations about 8 month befor Oktoberfest begins in Sept. 2006. Just remember ride the ride early, eat the food, enjoy the beautiful german ladies and snag a table before 4pm, that's when the crowd pours in.
