Mark Borshardt and Mike Schank from American Movie on Comedy Central

As I've written on this site, I really liked this movie. I've seen them on Letterman in the past but not so much lately. But this week, Reuters ran a story. Let me first give you the following excerpt from the Comedy Central site and then more from the Reuters story follows that:

http://ccinsider.comedycentral.com/cc_insider/2006/05/the_inside_scoo.html

"...Mark and Mike, is a documentary following filmmakers Mark Borshardt and Mike Schank as they attempt to produce another no-budget feature film, as they did in the indie film American Movie. 'It's more about these two characters than moviemaking itself,' said Comedy Central, said Yahoo News, 'They're sort of a modern-day equivalent of Beavis and Butt-Head.'"

Comedy Central gets real with Butt-head filmmakers
Mon May 08, 3:23 AM ET

Comedy Central has gone into production on three new pilots, including a reality project about two best friends trying to make a movie.

"Mark and Mike" follows best friends Mark Borshardt and Mike Schank, stars of the documentary "American Movie," as they set out to make a new film in Milwaukee with no resources.

"It's more about these two characters than moviemaking itself," said Lauren Corrao, executive vp original programming and development at the network. "They're sort of a modern-day equivalent of Beavis and Butt-Head."

The other pilots are an "improvised narrative" in the vein of the network's "Reno 911!" set in an auto-body repair shop, and a comedy-variety project featuring comedian DeRay Davis, a winner of Comedy Central's "Laugh Riots" nationwide stand-up competition.

"American Body Shop" revolves around the eccentric characters who work in the titular business,

The untitled Davis pilot integrates stand-up, reality, sketches and street news. Davis has appeared in such films as "Barbershop" and its sequel, and "Scary Movie 4."

The network recently ordered 10 episodes of another improvised narrative titled "Halfway Home," revolving around a dysfunctional group of parolees living in a halfway house. It premieres early next year.
