Conspiracy Theory?

Everyone's badmouthing the event due to lack of entries (despite the inaugural event being hailed the best event in 20 years despite there being only 35 starters)......WHY?

It's all a vicious circle, if no-one comes to watch or sneeks in for free, the event loses money, next year's entry fee goes up, less people want to do it, so less people come to watch!

Everyone on here is supposed to be a rally enthusiast so what has the event done to you all for you to hate it that much?

In my opinion it's the best event of the year. It's what everyone was crying out for. "Lets have a rally like in the olden days, night stages, BDAs, Keilder and the Yorkshire forests"

Now you've got one, get behind it and stop whingeing, it will then get more entries, more publicity, more support, a big sponsor, (some prize money?) and then it will just grow and grow into what you really want.

If it's not what you're looking for now, stay at home and wait until it is but for god's sake lets lose all the doom and gloom.

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

Well said Dave....
Now that that Colin H has clarified the number of entries,(49+20+10) plus "star" to fill number 1 slot...whats the problem?...fellow spectators..don't cancel the hotel rooms just yet!!As long as Dave H /Steve B are there l'll be there...

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

Here here

I have been waiting to go and watch on this event for 3 years and I just can't wait.

I think ticket prices are worth it and I would rather put money into this event than that comic of an event they call Wales Rally GB.

So come one everyone, get behind this event and make it grow

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

My hotel room is staying well and truly booked!

I cant wait for the event .... A lower the normal entry list doesnt bother me. BDA's in the forrest .. fantastic!

If there was 120 enties, people would still moan, it seemes to the in 'in-thing' to do nowadays.

Good luck to all involved. See you in the forrests.

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

We fully agree, stop whinging about the lack of entries.Yes its down on the last 3 years, and no big names YET (we hope!!).But come on,after 3 great years another WILL be in the making.Enjoy the rally in the spirit its done.
We are coming up from Guildford, Surrey for the whole event ,and will as per ALL the last 3 yrs follow it around from start to finish.Look out for a very dirty Nissa X-Trail for proof !
Keep up the good work guys, the best is yet to come....

Although this event hasnt got masses of entries i know it will be one of, if not the best event of the year to spectate on.

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

Conspiracy?? what is it with me and computers??I am in no way conspiring against anyone!!! every forum has one though it seems and I seem to find them everytime!!All I was asking was where the enties had gone from the list that was up previously and the answer was Kalkwik (thanks Col)it never ceases to amaze me when people who don't even know other people seem to think its ok bad mouth them openly, I can only asume then that someone IS conspiring against the Rally but can assure you ITS NOT ME!!!!! SEE YOU IN THE FORESTS GUYS.(AND GALS) maybe someone can let me know about the conspiracy then eh??

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

Twas nowt to do with you mate. There's rumours of it being cancelled, people cancelling theit hotels because Ari Waldergard hasn't entered and saying that most of the names on the entry list were contrived to make it look fuller and now they've miraculously disappeared (to the Kall Kwik and Clubmans events actually)

Remenber, if you're complaining of a low entry and you're not a competitor. You are the first person you should blame!

Sounds like a phrase from "Monkey" and there's no Tripitaka in sight!

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

I agree with your comments and am really looking forward to next weekend. I would however be interested to hear views why the entry is lower than in the past. Are there any past competitors who are not running this year that would like to input?

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

I did the event last year and it's two fold why i'm not out this year really as I was lucky to ahve two invites...

Firstly baby on the way on January the 8th so the wallet is running scared!!LOL
The other reason is cost to be honest, I did have a brace of people lined up who where up for helping out on the £££ but a few things meant they couldn't, these being geographical spread compared to their business and also the coverage last years event got on DVD. (But we've been there so i'll let that one lie)

On another forum I did mention about the possibility of having a stately home or two in the North West and that was to a degree based around hospitality etc, I also think it would have been such a bonus if Globecast had covered the event, heck i'd have reported for free if they wanted someone!!

Hope that gives some pointers on why i'm not out.

Best wishes to everyone and good luck to Keith Cornell my driver from last year.

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

David Hi ,I completely agree with your theory about the RAC, i watched the rally for the first time in 1975 in Cirencester Park, The great man himself was awesome driving LAR800P one of the famous "Cossack"
cars,it has taken me 33 years to become the proud owner of superb RS1800 which i bought from Steve Fleck.i am hopeing to contest the rally this year, but i must say it would be more of an incentive if the entry list was updated more often with names like "Malclom Wilson" doing the the rally this would inspire wanabees like me to compete on the same playing field??? Regards Bob

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

Bob, please come and have the time of your life....and keep watching for other names?

But remember we have a regular group of competitors who make this one of the best and friendliest non championship events around.

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

Well spotted Mr Henfderson...

This was pointed out in the Forum thread headed "Provisional Route" and has been noted. When the route goes beyond provisional it will be corrected. In the meantime if you want to go ahead and do your planning based on one or other of the stages the please do :-)

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

Let's start a positive theory.

If all the "legends" of rallying are having cars prepared for the McRae Stages, they will be at a loose end as to what to do with them come the second weekend in November!

Who do we think might blow the cobwebs off and come and give Malcolm, Banner and McCormack a run for their money this year?

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

Now that Killarny is not running the Irish crews will need somewhere to go.

This little event could give them a good challenge.

Re: Conspiracy Theory?

I'd like to see Marcus Gronholm in the Stobart Mk.2, with Jimmy sticking to the 911.....

Would also be good to see some of those rumoured to be building historic cars like Neil Wearden and Theo Bengry.

hi dave,i,ve operated a safety radio on the REAL RAC[roger albert] since the 1st event,as far north as ae& kielder waters & i come from nottingham it,s by far one the best events on the calender. p.s. if people think the spectator entry fees are to high get up off your butt & go and marshal you,ll love it,cheers BARRY PHOENIX 5 E.D.M.C.[aged 64]
