IMPORTANT: Meeting on Little Aristasia

With the acquisition by my honoured and beloved sister Miss Diana Carter of the beautiful valley named Little Aristasia (If you have not been keeping up with the Aristasia Diaries, you should look at some of the more recent entries here), the time has come to call a meeting of the White Rose Family and fiends thereof to discuss the development of this beautiful new Aristasian colony.

The idea of having a Lay College has already been discussed, but nothing is firmly arranged yet, and certainly no details are fixed.

With much headscratching (and realising, with apologies to those who were with us in the White Rose Room yesterday that my last set of calculations were based on a completely wrong computation of Manila time), Miss Poppy and I could come up with only one time that will not be the middle of somebody's night:

SATURDAY The 4th of Brighe (26 January)

6:00 am Pacific Time

8:00 am Central Time

9:00 am Eastern Time

2:00 pm GMT

3:00 pm Central European Time

10:00 pm Manila

Can everyone make these times? I realise they are not super-convenient, but this is an important meeting and it needs to be possible (not comfortable. which unfortunately is impossible) for everyone.

Re: IMPORTANT: Meeting on Little Aristasia

Topics for discussion:

1.

Hestia:

What form would we like our hestia to take? Will it be a lay college, a pension, would we like to live in one building or in a group of buildings? What about architecture? Any preferred style? Shall we ask Miss Beauchamp to build us a one prim one?

2.

Embassy:

What will we do with the embassy? Will it stay where it is or will we move it to our new property? There is a chance the embassy will be empty for long periods of time since we will all be playing in our new garden. But the embassy might also pull in unwanted visitors.

3.

List of things we want. (Isn’t this a lovely topic?)

What would we like to do with our land? A place to swim in the river? A swing with a nice big old tree attached? A place to practice archery or rather a tea house in Louis XIV style? Will we need a separate ballroom or will the grand hall in our yet to be thought up hestia do?

4.
Finances:

How many pieces of gold does our treasurer Miss Himmel carry and what can we buy for that?

Re: IMPORTANT: Meeting on Little Aristasia

Due to illness and the early hour at which the meeting will take place for my time-zone, I will be unable to attend the meeting. I am truly sorry, I wished very much to take part in it and help to build up our little valley as much as I am able to, however it is simply not possible for me to wake up that early considering how sick I have been, so I thought it best to leave my comments here and I know that whatever the Family decides will be for the best of Little Aristasia and all of us.

Topics for discussion:

1.

Hestia:

I am very excited by the idea of a lay college. It is the type of school I wish I could go to in Telluria, but as it is, the idea of being able to take part in one in Virtualia is near enough, if not better, as in Telluria I could never enjoy such company as I would at this school! Due to the limited space, I am for the housing being in one building, attached to the school or next to it (attached would perhaps conserve space best). Being from Arcadia, I prefer that sort of grand style, however, I will be pleased with anything that is truly Aristasian as I am sure all the buildings will be. I must say I approve of any building that is in a Real style and has ivy on it, but that is just because I adore ivy. I do not know Miss Beauchamp's work, but I have heard enough to think she will do a very good job.

2.

Embassy:

I think the Embassy should not be in the valley, that it should be left just that, an Embassy in a different country, or world, from Little Aristasia. We will have unwanted visitors enough without inviting them in.

3.

List of things we want. (Isn’t this a lovely topic?)

I am for some sort of ship, a sailing ship would be my prefered kind, something elegant and a bit magical, as I think Little Aristasia is a magical sort of place.

I think some sort of garden, perhaps a white rose one, would be lovely, even if it is simply a path hedged with them. The area is beautiful there along the beach, so perhaps a little house with a changing room for swimming could be placed there, or an awning-covered terrace. Something simple that does not detract from the view, but enhances it and is reasonably useful as well.

The idea of practicing archery is devine, it would not need to take up much space, as one only has to shoot along a line, but I think it could be delightfully fun.

As far as the ballroom, I think having one in the hestia would be best, as we are limited as to space. The only bother with that is then there becomes the issue of leaving the dancing pose-balls down in the great hall or not, which will clutter things up when we do not want to dance, but will make it so those who have the pose-balls will have to be there when pettes do want to dance. I do not know how simply this may be fixed, but I thought I'd bring it up.

As far as what I think the hestia should have... a library for study and contemplative reading would be nice, I know books that can be 'read' are not terribly expensive, and having a library or at least a study with a roaring fireplace would be lovely. Also, I think having a chapel, even if it is a very small one and the larger one is left in the Embassy, is needed. We would be no-where without Dea's guidance, and I feel that a place to offer her our worship, even if it be her image, a candle and a place to kneel, cannot be ignored. If we are to have a lay college, having a larger chapel there makes more sense. Obviously these are just my feelings and ideas!

4.
Finances:

I have no idea as to this part, but I was given a gift of a little money that I plan to buy a few lindens from, so at the very least I will be able to buy a few things to give in support of the effort, I hope, even if they will be too small a sum to help with the building.

Again, I apologise greatly that I cannot come to the meeting, but I must sleep now, and I will set my alarm for 11am PST, the earliest my blonde (she is a very logical blonde when it comes to these matters, if not others) will allow me to get up. I hope then at least to catch a few of you still in the Rosary and to hear how the meeting went!

Rayati raihiranya!
