The Feast of Lights - and Eastre
The Service for the Feast of Lights will take place at the White Rose Room this Saturday. This is the Festival of Our Lady's taking-on of Fate (which has been compared to the Boddhisattwa's Vow of Kuan Yin. Please note that the actual day of the Festival is Saturday the 11th of Brighe (2nd of February), not the 10th/1st as was misprinted in the Aristasian Perpetual Calendar (this has now been corrected). The Feast of Lights begins the Eastre Cycle whose first (or sorrowful) half ends with the Death of our Lady on the last day of the year. The second (or joyful) half begins with the Resurrection of Our Lady on the first day of the New Year (Culverine 1st/March 21st). The Joyful Half of the Eastre Cycle culminates with the High Feast of the Exaltation of The Queen of Heaven on the 14th of Maia (1st of May). It is traditional for candles to be blessed for the year on the Feast of Lights, so you may wish to acquire sufficient candles for the coming year's devotional (and indeed any other) use this week. Between the Death and Resurrection of Our lady (that is, between Old and the New Year) there will be a double-hiatus - that is two days that are not part of the Calendar and have no dates instead of the usual one. These are the Days of Mourning for Our Lady. You may also wish to note that the Christian Easter is very early this year - so much so that the High Feast of the Resurrection will coincide with the Tellurian Good Friday (I don't think anyone can remember the last time this happened). Next year will be a Year of Sai Sushuri - dedicated to Love in all its forms. The Service for the Feast of Lights will take place on: Saturday the 10th of Brighe - 2nd of February at: the White Rose Room. The time will be: Pacific Time 1 p.m. Eastern Time 4 p.m. GMT 9 p.m. Western/Central Europe 10 p.m Manila 5 p.m. All maidens of good will, Aristasian or not, are welcome. |
