Well good for Mr. Michael J. McFadden, who I'm sure is the world-reknown leading expert on the subject. And he's probably right! The thing is- no "decently ventilated" facilities exist- anywhere. Bars' and restaurants' ventilation systems are not designed nor equipped for the purpose of clearing cigarette smoke. Most systems are very similar to the ones found in people's houses, and do very little about the problem. Why do people never complain about effects of outdoor secondhand smoke? Well duh- the wind carries it away and it is lost in the countless other particles in our atmosphere. So unless one is standing in very close proximity to a smoker, he/she would find it extremely hard to notice any ill effects of secondhand smoke. If such a situation existed in a bar or restaurant, we would have no more complaints, would we? |
