hey gouyave folks, now that the world cricket series have been completed and also a success, with some strong back grenadians, let's continue to look at the other part of grenada (gouyave). When I was a child in gouyave we used to go to the park for races and other ocassions. The grass was taken care of by the people of gouyave. There were vendors( Local people) selling ice cream, candies and many other things, which we, as children were proud to participate. Anglican school, Catholic school, Grandroy and concord schools. I have been going back home every year for the past twelve years and its embarassing to see the park with the imitation stage and old galvanize instead of old memories. I remember the old days when we had (all day dance) from one to six. All children looked forward to that day. We were looking forward to wear our new outfit (dangdang) dont pretend that you don't remember that name, sorry young folks if you have never heard that name before. My gripe is today we have the funds and the knowledge to update our park, yes (our)park. I have been hearing for years that they are doing work in the park. If it takes less than a year to build a stadium in st georges, how long will it take to (fix, repair or patch up) which ever name you may chose. Do we need math to figure that one? Last year I went to the park for the kiddies carnival, the bands were beautiful but my frustration was the park. We, the gogouyave family have discussed about donating to improve the park, it could't be done (politics).Ok folks if it takes a group of gouyave people to send letters to our representatives, let's do it, gouyave is still our home whether we live there or somewhere else. I know that many of you are reading the articles on the web every day but in your mind it's (their problem)our problem, if we are planning to visit or retire back home. That's only merle's opinion. |
