Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

See post on Colwyn Bay message board, particularly like the comment about playing surface!!!

Ahem I will try and word this very carefully, .... strong wind and terrible surface meant it was not going to be a fluent game, Lewis came in for the suspended Robbie Williams, JB came in at left back and Matt Parry returned in goal. However the talkingpoint after the game was the performance of the officials and a string of decisions.

The Bay got at the home side from the start and on 7 minutes Blackie outpaced the home defence to latch onto a through ball, the home keeper however came out to meet him and caught the ball 2 yards outside the box .... to say the refs decision to show only a yellow card raised a few eyebrows is an understatement!! The same keeper then got eveybody's back up with a tendency to take a lot of time over his goalkicks ("tactical" was his observation to the Bay fans behind the goal due to "playing into the wind") the ref kept pointing at his watch but took no further action, the same keeper was then involved in an incident with Blackie on 25 minutes when it seemed a swing at the Bay forward in the confrontation merited a strong talking to.

Wrighty hit the post with a header and Tim produced a smart save from the keeper. However the Bay were nursing several injuries as the home side's robust challenges went unpunished although Tim did collect a yellow for objecting to a flying elbow to his head.

the 2nd half followed a similar pattern although the home team did force Matty to make several impressive blocks, however a cross shot saved by Matty fell to a home striker who buried the ball home. More frustration as the game slowed with every free kick and the home side not rushing to get things moving. Martin Crowder was inches wide when shooting across the keeper before being booked for handball, 30 secs before a home player committed the same offence but no sanction after the free kick. The ref was not only mystyfying the Bay fans; a torrent of foul mouthed abuse from the home bench triggered the ref to go over to speak to them when he failed to play the advantage to them this time, but again only a ticking off.

The frustration was certainly getting to people by this stage, Alex was forced out of the game with an injury, and when his replacement Paul Williams burst through to finish only to be flagged for offside, recently arrived sub Mark Quayle was sent off for expressing his disagreement with the call.

So the first defeat under Gary's stewardship, on balance the team probably did not do enough to win, but the phrase "to lose under those circumstances" was a common statement as the disappointed Bay following departed. Hopefully that is a factual account of events, there was a lot more to comment on, I will allow others to add their observations, when they get home.
Matt

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind - You *******

Disagree with it? The ref was nothing more than a obvious biased Yorkshire ****** Your keeper should have walked and the ref's decisions were on the verge of cheating throughout,

Disgusting!

As long as you and your mate (I mean ref!) believe you had a good game, I'm sure your happy, but if that's what you need to do to win a game of football you might as well give up now.

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

As Ossett fans you have to admit that you had a helping hand yesterday, if the boot was on the foot and you were playing at the Bay, you would have wanted our keeper to walk for those offences and you wouldnt have been thrilled if it was a Welsh referee who lets face it, gave the Bay little.

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

Why should it have been a sending off!? Where in the rule book does it say it should? He didn't deny a goalscoring opportunity so yellow card at most.

That's the most ridiculous report i've ever seen, you got beat boys, shut up and get on with it!

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

I take it that last reply was from the ref. It was good to see your Chairman buying him a pint in the bar after the game. Neither team played well yesterday and you no more deserved to win than we did. Quite frankly I wouldn't be unhappy if I never had to see your dump of a ground again. Oh by the way good luck with your ground grading I wish I could see you trying to fit electric hand driers behind the wall of your outside toilet.

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

Where in the rule book does it say he shouldn't have been sent off!? Thats the worst argument ever!

He wasn't denying a goalscoring opportunity, simple, it's a yellow card! Get over it boys, you were beaten. Bye bye!

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

Not just the incident outside the box, (a cliche but schoolboy error) but the taking a swipe at a player as well, even though he missed, it was still intent, intent is worthy of a yellow card, its in the rule book by the way, two yellow cards equal a red, simple. Apart from that, any other ref would have booked him for time wasting, so, not the worst argument ever and bye bye ? ermmmmmm nah.

You're having a mare sunshine. 1-0! Beaten, bitter and trying to make excuses. Not good enough on the day, end of story.

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

Don't mind being beaten by a better team or even one that played better on the day but you:- a, Didn't play better than us. b, Most certainly are not a better team than us. c, Have a foul mouthed manager who called the ref a cheat to his face and was not punished. d, Have similar players who with some of their actions towards us could quite easily have sparked crowd trouble. e, Do not have a fan base to be able to carry on in this league for much longer. f, Will no doubt have problems with ground grading as your current home seems to have been built in the 1930's before Yorkshire discovered electricity. g, Have a pitch that slopes downhill so badly if it snows you get downhill skiers and kids sledging down it.
And just for good measure we taught you how to play rugby yesterday. World champs my a**e.

Yes we got beat and that may be all that matters.
But I'd rather s**g a sheep than drink a cup of Yorkshire tea.

...or live in a dump like Ossett. Looking at the trolls you call women, maybe you would like to invest in a few Welsh sheep.

Great come back.... or not as it happens. But if your way is with sheep rather than women you keep on going sunshine. Your special and that's all that matters. Hang in there son.

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

It's called being able to laugh at yourself. I thought living in Ossett you might understand that. Then again, not a lot to smile about in your neck of the woods is there. By the way. Just how much alcohol do you have to drink before the women of Ossett lose their troll looks? Someone told me it was about ten pints but I would have thought more.

For the record. I'm not your son so please don't start any vicious rumours about me being part of your inbred family (now that is special). Please tell your wife/sister that Yes surgury would help but a paper bag is cheaper

Now where did I put my sheep?...

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

Terrible surface, you obviously haven't been to many grounds in unibond league then, surface was great and has been commented on several times stating this, yes it was very windy, as for timewasting don't think so and what about our second goal, see you didn't mention that in your report, as still not sure how you can be given offside when ball is pulled back. As for keeper being sent off, wouldn't happen 9 times out of 10 as if he hadn't have handled it, ball would have gone for goal kick so therefore not goalscoring opportunity, didn't see keeper throw a punch but did see 3 times where your forwards deliberately went through him with no intent to play the ball just to try and provoke him, i would assume. Thought you were nowhere near as good as you were in our previous games but all best for rest of season. 1-0 to the albion, the better side on the day.

Re: Teddy and Pram Spring to Mind

The only thing that i am frustrated with (not upset) is the standard of refereeing on the day. Carl Bassindale is not without his critics as a recent spell on the line between Leicester and Derby will validate, together with one or two other spats he has had recently.

Having said that, if we (Ossett Albion & Colwyn Bay) as supporters didnt stick up for our clubs then we wouldnt be true supporters would we? The banter is all part of the fun and the love of the clubs' that we all follow.

All the best for the future lads, both on and off the field.
