Old Darts

Hi

I'm thinking of buying an old Dart just for family holiday fun. I currently race my Sprint 15 (aka Dart 15) on the circuit.

I've read the points to look out & price guide, & from a general Dart perspective think I know what to look out for.

If I go for a boat of sail number of less than 4000, i.e. more than 20yrs old, should I be paying more than £1000 unless it's in ABSOLUTELY mint condition ?

Thanks

Re: Old Darts

hi charles
you can come across boats of that age for that price no worrys but you have to think that a boat thats 15 or 20 years old is going to have some ware and tear just keep your eyes open and the right one will come along there are 2 on ebay at the moment but that best think to do is ask around at different clubs when you go to them on the circit.
i think one of the lads at the ryyc in bridlington is selling his at the moment think is a 22** number or some where around there will see if i can get hold of him for you.

regards
duncan (ryyc bridlington)

p.s i will keep my eyes open as well

Re: Old Darts

The prices tend to peak in about June each year but there are always bargains to br had. Sometimes an older boat might be really good - there was a 1100 series at stokes bay recently with nearly new sails for £750 including a Cattrax trolley! It had been professionally sprayed (Pink) but looked a bargain.
Ebay is also one for bargains but beware of keel line cracks and bent or dented masts.Rudders also cost a mint-

Re: Old Darts

Thanks guys, I'll keep my eyes skinned on the various websites, as I'm not in a rush I'll wait until the right boat arrives at the right price.
