Race Development Training Weekend, 26-7 April

I'd like to thank Brian and Tim for a wonderful training weekend at Windsport. I'd also like to thank Jenny for organising this event - heck, she even managed to fix the weather so that both days had bright sunshine and good winds.

Ten boats arrived, some from fairly near and some from much further away. I thought the travellers from Carsington (318 miles), Whitstable (326 miles) and Grafham (330 miles) were doing well but our journeys were eclipsed by two sailors who had come from Ferrara, near Venice (1945 km).

I haven't been to a previous UKIDA training event, so I cannot compare them. But the training at Windsport was excellent. I learned lots (probably more than I'll remember), Falmouth is a lovely place to sail, and Brian is a superb coach (well, no surprise there). All in all, well worth the 7 hours journey each way.

Completely agree - there was excellent coaching, weather and company. A really good weekend - thank you Brian, Tim and Jenny. The roads were mainly dual carriage way, so no problems towing the boats. Only downside was not finding any proper pasties to bring back home, so hopefully back next year to put that right - and learn some more.

Re: Race Development Training Weekend, 26-7 April

We were also there (in fact we're still enjoying mylor for a couple more days) and had a brilliant time. Many thanks to Jenny, Brian, Tim, Cookie and UKIDA for all the work that went into setting it up.

Yes, it's a fairly long drive to get down here but the weather, water and excellent tuition from Brian (professional to the last), made it all worth it.

We also enjoyed a new found ability to live off countless pasties, safe in the knowledge that we'd use all the fuel in the next set of race drills. Don't worry Paul, we'll do our best to bring one with us when we see you next.

See you in Parkstone.
