START RACING TRAINING WEEKEND – 19/20th April 2008
I would just like to say a big thank you on behalf of the 4 boats that took part in a very enjoyable and educational Start Racing training weekend (19/20th April) with Brian Phipps at Windsport’s Cat Clinic in Falmouth, Cornwall. Jenny did a great job as always on behalf of UKIDA in re-organising the course (after the traditional Teach-in at Graffham Water had to be cancelled) and Brian’s excellent hosting and coaching (and maintenance!) skills, along with a superb venue, helped make for a memorable and rewarding weekend. After a very gloomy, wet and windy weather forecast for the weekend, it turned out to be an ideal F3/4 all weekend, and the sun even popped out on Sunday morning and the rain held off until after we packed up the boats - hopefully a good omen for the rest of the season! Having attended last years beginners course at Graffham, this one was nicely pitched between that and what I would imagine the next course would be, with a good bias towards racing, so ideal for what we all wanted. I look forward to progressing to the ‘Develop Your Racing Skills’ course next year and I was glad to hear that they also had a great time last weekend. See you at the Nationals! Tony Knill |
