Are We A Paper Society?
http://www.fepaper.com/articles/submit.html Success, Sharon Ralbect FE Paper http://www.fepaper.com Are We A Paper Society? Is a paperless society achievable? Looking at the success of the paper industry, one has to wonder. The advent of electronic communications and ebooks have helped reduce the need of paper. This saves on tree consumption and preserves the environment. Offices, schools and other facilities depends very much on paper. Look at your surroundings and see how paper is used everyday. Physical mail is still paper but online resources such as, billing paying and banking help reduce the dependence on paper. You can request you banking statements and bills to arrive by email. That means less mail in your mailbox. Although a paper free society sounds great, paper will always exist. Some people prefer paper documents, especially if they are very visual. A select group will always remain apprehensive about online security and using the internet to give personal information. More and more companies are discovering great cost reductions switching over to using electronics. Elimination of paper doesn't eliminate the workload. If it seems it increased, you are right. Paperless means a reduction in communication costs. You can contact and interact with more people at once that ever imagined with paper. One click results in companies and individual sending out millions of useless information and junk mail. That doesn't include the endless pop-ups and viruses generated with electronic communications. Paper mail creates a natural barrier protecting children from seeing adult content. With the cost of sending mail gone, unscrupulous people don't care who receives their email messages. Parents must protect their child's ebox and internet cruising. Shifting to a society the uses less paper will take some adjusting, especially in dealing with the problems it brings. But an electronic message can never replace the warm feeling of receiving a stamped, hand written card or letter. Sharon Ralbect is the manager for FE |
