Re: Needed Bonanza Fuel Tank

I'm building a replica of Ricky McCulloch ( the son of Bob McCulloch of McCulloch Chainsaws ) mini drag bike which ran two McCulloch 101 kart engines in tandem for power i have the Bonanza on it's way to Australia should be here in about 7 to 8 weeks then the fun will begin in enest my web site has a page on this mini bike under the karting section

http://macbobaust.com/ricky.html

The only change i may make is that the mini bike could be painted in yellow and black McCulloch colours got to have it stand out in the crowd ya know.

Re: Needed Bonanza Fuel Tank

I saw that bike on ebay not too long ago. Looks like crazy fun. I have plans to build one with a single Kart engine(not sure what kind yet, Mac, WB, or Clinton) and a 2-speed jackshaft.

You might check with Dave about a seat too when you get the tank.

Keep us posted.

Wow, that's very cool.... how 'bout some details (and pics) on how the two Macs are hooked together to drive the rear wheel?

Re: Needed Bonanza Fuel Tank

Well Mardyn,

I'm think from the photo's i've seen so far the engines are offset to each other or else the rear engine would have to carry a double drive sprocket but if i offset the engines i can run two drives to the jackshaft.

Re: Needed Bonanza Fuel Tank

Mc Bob, There was a discussion about this awhile back on either REAR or VKA. Someone(possibly Tom Smith?) said the bike used the dual sprocket. Darv.

Re: Needed Bonanza Fuel Tank

That would fit right in with your dual engine chain saw. We still need to get you a kart with dual Macs. Or maybe triple? Darv.

Re: Needed Bonanza Fuel Tank

It appears in the pics that the engines are slightly offset, I'm assuming each engine has it's own clutch and drive chain back to the jack shaft. That's some pretty slick engineering there.

keep us posted.
