Price: 1 person--$35 for 1 hour of instruction; 2 person lesson--$25 for 1 hour of instruction (consider finding a friend for a joint lesson for this reduced price); 3 person lesson--$20 for 1 hour; 4 or more person lesson--$15 for 1 hour; Family price $50—will do as many family members as would be interested including parents)

Explanation of introductory lessons: These lessons can be taken individually or in groups. In the spirit of homeschooling, Greg encourages young people to grow their music talents independently. In the first hour, Greg will offer how to get started information related to notation, basic sound-making techniques on the instrument, and ideas for creative exploration. Additional lessons could be scheduled based on the young person’s interest or progression. This is a cost-saving approach because the student discovers through independent exploration 1) how much they can do on their own and 2) if they are really interested in the instrument. Additionally, Greg’s research in his area of expertise (music creativity) revealed that a great deal of meaningful music experience can be gained through independent explorations.
History of the Word in Half a Day: Over the past 6 year, Greg Woodward--music professor at Truett and homeschol dad, has taught various classes related to history of the arts: music history, exploration of the arts, and creative arts for elementary teachers. In this lecture opportunity Greg will offer a Christian world-view perspective on art (very similar to Schafer), including a review of geo-political landscape of Europe from 450 to the present—strong Western History foundation will be laid. Various art examples will be played and viewed. Greg will provide a list of these examples so the student can review these important works and events throughout the year. The 3 hour lecture can be broken up into 2 days of 1.5 hour lecture or 3 days of 1 hour lectures depending on attention span of child or young person.
