Becky Tison is interested in hosting a high school level biology co-op and a high school level chemistry co-op. She has taught all areas of science; physics, chemistry, biology, marine biology, etc.
She is opening this to Habersham and surrounding counties, since she lives in Clarkesville. She needs a minimum of 6 students for each class. The co-op would start some time in Aug. and go for 4 months. It will be like a college level course. So your high schooler will be making a double time commitment, good prep for college.
There will be a college level lab available and your student will finish with a full lab book to show colleges along with test and quizzes given.
The cost will be $10 per week. And the student brings their own science book, whatever curriculum you use as long as it's a main stream type like Bob Jones, Apologia, etc.
Dates and times are flexible and will be worked out with the families that commit to the course.
If interested contact Becky Tison by Aug 22, 2008. You can contact her by phone (706) 754-5641 or email luthertison@windstream.net
My daughter attended the first class this past week in Clarkesville. It sounds like it's going to be great. Becky said that it's not too late to sign up, but after next week she will not accept any more students. The plans are to meet every Monday (except Labor Day week it will be Tues.) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and to go on 3 field trips. Classes will be over by mid-December. (They will have covered the whole book within that time.)
