Join a team brokering more than 10 billion transactions per month, working with critical performance requirements. In this opportunity, you will use and develop strong research, investigation and evaluation skills. You will be working as part of a team on the design, development, and implementation of Overture search systems. Projects are diverse, but focus on high semantic algorithms and system level optimization for performance and availability.

Essential responsibilities:

Design and develop modular, highly-optimized software systems using large-scale distributed component-based software solutions. Rapidly come up to speed on our large and complex code base and understand the needs of our high-availability service. Work as part of a focused team to define, develop, and deploy large architectural changes to the search platform. Explore and scientifically analyze the performance and resource impact of major changes in application flow and distribution. Coordinate with the broader search engineering, product management, and operations teams on architectural issues. Contribute to and drive ongoing improvements in the code base and software development best practices.

Qualifications
• BS CS or equivalent required, MS CS preferred
• 5+ years Unix, C/C++ development experience required
• Strong understanding of software and hardware architecture required
• Systems programming, multi-threading, distributed computing, network programming, performance analysis, and optimization experience highly desirable
• Experience developing for a large-scale high-availability web-based service preferred
• Information retrieval/Search Engine experience a plus
