KYLE UPDATE 4-7-05

Hello all!

Well, I finally received some progress info yesterday!

Kyle's official cancer cell count is 1%. Not 0%, but excellent progress none the less! AND it means he still qualifies for transplant. He still has 2 more cycles left to shake that remaining stubborn residue so that he can make it to zero and go! :)

The preliminary search for bone marrow donors has turned up 40 potential matches. Of those they are beginning to widdle down to, God willing, at least one good match for transplant.

Kyle’s Dr has given the Bone Marrow Transplant Team a target date of June 10th for transplant. This means they have to have a ready match by then too.

They were unable to schedule a fertility procedure yet and each day of this chemo minimizes the chances further. Please pray about this heart wrenching decision with us.

So, Kyle’s 7th Birthday is April 10th! What a precious day for us! Yippee!

He is still in the hospital and tolerating these chemo’s well. He had a rough start this week and was very ill, but has amazingly bounced back, so well, that they are accelerating his chemo 4 hrs earlier everyday (this is to get him out of the hospital sooner and in time for his B-day).

We are still unsure of whether he will have an immune system strong enough to have a celebration with others, but we can just postpone the big party and do something small together with cupcakes on that day at the hospital in the play room under isolation.

We are pressing forward. There are other updates and Kyle’s Wish List is now posted (finally…sorry!)

Please note the updated address info for Kyle, as well as the zip code correction.

Both boys are doing well in their studies here at the hospital's school. Sean is on independent studies doing well with the low S/T ratio. Kyle continues to work hard when he feels up to it and his teacher (Ms Jacobs) and his class (Rm 8 Marshall ES) continue to support him!

We are also enjoying a UCSF patient membership to the UCSF sports center! Jerry and Sean are having a great time lifting weights and working out together and Jerry and I are even able to steal over there and work out together, with a trainer! Free! What a stress relieving blessing!

We continue to be overwhelmed by the outpour of support and just could never ever put into words how grateful we are to all of you!!!! If you have not done so yet, please be sure to read about yourselves on the "Into Battle" web page.

God bless you all and don’t forget to give a squeeze to your loved ones for us...you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Blessed Wishes,

Katrina, Jerry, Sean, and Kyle
