Kyle continues to improve, I believe we've just experienced another miracle!
After the ear nose and throat Drs viewed his cat scan, we were told that he most likely had a fungus growing in his sinus that is rare but common in neutropenic children....That it's aggressive and deadly and we did not know how long he had it, since we accidentally ran across it....That his body has absolutely no way to fight it, so if it's there, he's helpless to it spreading through his brain etc. He was rushed down to surgery to remove whatever they found...what they found was isolated in his sinus pocket and had not even infiltrated the bone (typical of this fungus). Praise God!
We still sit at the possibility that we ran across it early and it had not had a chance to get far, but so far, nothing has grown in the bacteria or fungus cultures they took from Kyle's sinus pocket and this is very surprising!! We are not out of the woods, but it's looking great!!
His appetite is back and so is his sense of humor! He's still a little puny in the stomach, but overall, he's excellent!
I'll take a few pictures of him today and post them in the hospital album...
