7/7-8/05 KYLE UPDATE

Kyle had a small fever this morning, so we had to pack up like lightning and race to the nearest hospital for IV antibiotics and labs followed by a possible airlift up to UCSF.

Shortly after he arrived, he had no fever and shortly after that he had a dose of antibiotics on-board and was sleeping. There was no need for a trip to UCSF, so we were released home while they watched his cultures for infection.

Relieved and worn out, we returned home to rest eat dinner and go to bed before beginning to unpack and repack for Sean to go camping on Monday.

We arose the next morning (8th) and Jerry and Sean began to unload the remaining gear as Kyle and I busied ourselves getting another lab drawn for the days follow up.

We hadn't gotten very far when UCSF called to inform us that Kyle had grown out bacteria in his cultures and needed to be admitted immediately. Thankfully he did not have a fever so we were able to drive him instead of mediflight.

We made it and he is fine, fever free and perfectly happy - not sick. They re-drew new labs to be sure the first ones were not an error in the lab back at the other hospital and so we wait.
