Re: Military pay

The first pay day I got in Feb. 68, After deductions for first haircut, allotment for my wife, savings bonds, and taxes. I got $11.00, Thank God cigaretes were $2.10 a carton and 3.2 beer, at the PX was about a dollar for a pitcher of Grain belt. I used to spit shine shoes and brims on saucer hats for extra cash for the sandwich truck that came around at night.

Re: Re: Military pay

Good old 3.2! I always drank Colt-45, so that 3.2 just didn't have a kick.

But then I was assigned to Germany and that German Beer, Kind of bitter, really Knocked me on my A$$ the first time out!

Good old "33" and "tiger pi$$" is what we called it because of the picture of a tiger on the bottle and in Germany it seem as if every small town had a beer company and a "guesthouse" on each corner.
