Our scarves - update

We are close to having official San Diego LOAL chapter scarves/bandanas for our canine and feline members. Robin, Cody, and I met with our seamstress angel, Roberta , to select fabric. Now Roberta is testing the durability and ease of keeping the fabric clean by washing & drying a sample of the fabric with our logo embroidered on it. Once the sample passes the test, Roberta and her friend, Kate, will begin the long process of making our scarves. It takes 30 minutes of work per scarf!

Check this message forum often to find out how to get a scarf for your pet.

Re: Our scarves - update

A huge thank you to Roberta and her friend for doing this for our chapter. They have offered to donate their time and services , only charging us for the material purchased. How cool is that?!

Another huge thank you goes to our very own Nancy who has spent a lot of time communicating with Roberta and working through all the details. Thank you, Nancy!!!!!!

Re: Our scarves - update

Nancy, didn't Roberta mention she had a cold when we met her ? If so, I know where to poin the finger as I have a cold.

Re: Our scarves - update

Oh, no! Not a cold!

I don't remember Roberta saying she had a cold, but I could have missed that.

Be sure you do NOT visit Casa or any other residences with your cold. Belmont Village had a sign warning people to not visit if they have a cold.

Maybe the change in weather brought down your resistance, too?

Re: Our scarves - update

So, what will it take to perhaps get an update in time for our board meeting? I know Nancy's been working like a hound dog on getting this task accomplished

Re: Our scarves - update

Roberta, our scarf-maker, called me today. She's washed & dried a sample scarf. It turned out well, but being 100% cotton, our scarves will have to be ironed after washing. The blue, marblized fabric Robin & I selected with Roberta does not come in polyester - only 100% cotton.

Hopefully, if the scarves are used as "uniforms" for our pets when they are "working", the scarves will not need to be washed too often.

Roberta is mailing the washed sample scarf, so we can look at it at our board meeting this Wednesday, Feb. 28th.

Re: Our scarves - update

Absolutely fantastic news! Can't wait to see them.

Re: Our scarves - update

Ditto!! Thanks, Nancy. Can't wait to see them on Wednesday.

Re: Our scarves - update

OK, LOAL members, it's time to order your official San Diego LOAL scarf for your pet! Our pets will look so good in their new "uniforms", which will allow a lot more petting-room than our current LOAL vests.

The fabric is a light blue, very pale lavendar, and white marble-like color. On this fabric, Roberta embroidered our official logo in a purple thread with the animal silhouettes in alternating black & white thread.

The fabric is cotton. It can be washed & will need a slight pressing.

At this time we are not sure of the cost for each scarf, but I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

What I need to know is:

1. Your pet's scarf size: small, medium, large, or extra-large

2. Style: bandana (tie-on), velcro, or slide-over the collar style

3. How many scarves you want.

Once I have everyone's order, I will be able to let you know the cost before we order them from Roberta. Please hurry, so we can get these made ASAP! THANKS for your patience.
