Hydraulic pipes and other tubular fittings

I have been asked by a contributor on the other channel to pass this around.
I have to say my firm has used Fred for years and he is one of a breed a proper old type engineering craftsman.
So pasted below are his details:

If you need any pipes or tubes made up then try this man. Fred Reader.
Fred is ex-AEC-PRV and has the tooling bought from them when they closed.
He can make full high pressure pipes to any pattern from sample or drawing in any metal. Fred supplies the MoD, LU, Land-Rover, many marine specialists and anything Pirtek can't do, and, he is not a rip-off merchant.
He can make handrails to the right profiles (but not the castings) Be warned, he may retire soon and there are very few left with the skill and know how of AEC/PRV built vehicles

Fred is not on email but telephone 0208-571- 6003 mobile 07956 379327

Re: Hydraulic pipes and other tubular fittings

Whilst not denigrating in any way the skill or craft of this man, a bit of poetic license is creeping in here!! I don't know where AEC got its metal piping for brake systems, but I jknow aman that does, but at Park Royal Vehicles which was a separate company of course, they did not make the hand rails, or seat stanchions for any of its buses, they were bought in from people like Chapmans. All the drawings, patterns and tooling from PRV for the RMs became the property of LT in 1966 and the drawings passed to the Drawing Office at Chiswick, the tooling and patterns going to Aldenham for re-stamping with LT's own pattern numbers and that was undertaken by two apprentices in the jig and tool shop, one of which I know very well.

Re: Hydraulic pipes and other tubular fittings

Brian, Give Fred a ring, I'm sure he will tell you what they did & did not do at Park Royal.I don't know, all I know is his work is first rate.

AEC and Park Royal as everyone knows, were very intertwined and LT was not it's sole customer.

Fred was at PRV for a very long time. So rather than dismiss him as some bloke wot my mate knows, he is real, his number is there and anyone in need can ask him.

Jack
I started off by saying that I was not denigrating or questioning the skills or products of the man. What I was questioning was the inference that Park Royal Vehicles made tubes and rails and this man was making them to PRV's drawings. Park Royal and LT, bought in the chairs and rails for the RT and the RM and AFAIK the PRV tooling for the body parts on the RMs wes not sold off by PRV. He might of course have copies of the drawings that LT had of pipes and tubing, as I said I'm sure he makes first rate pipes, tubes etc.
