I don't usually advocate the 'other channel' but it's been rather lively in the debate side of late which can be both irritating and thought provoking at the same time. It also raises some issues that maybe ought to be discussed and resolved for the long term preservation scene.

But that aside, someone has posted some super pictures on the site and are well worth a quick look.

Re: Pictures

If you want to see regular pictures of RMs, not necessarily those that are running around now on the 9 and 15, subscribe to the Yahoo groups London Bus scene. http://groups.google.co.uk/group/London-Bus-Scene?start=10
In the archives are probability photos of 90% of the RMs and 99% of RMLs and you can also discuss the photos and related topics without a CAPITAL LETTER in sight. Then there is always http://jasperstransportphotographs.fotopic.net/ where apart from many LT pictures you can chose your operator and buy the pictures if you want for a very reasonable price compared to eBay.

Re: Pictures

Hello, I'm new to the site and this whole world of bus preservation which is tremendous fun
.Thanks for the pointer. Enjoyed the pictures very much. Do you get pictures on this site too? Or is it difficult to do?.
Thought some of the rantings hilarious but do agree with Jack (an old overseer, Hi- Jack! as we used to joke at him!!)- Some of the issues are underlying problems for the future of preservation. Maybe a more calm and serious debate should be raised somewhere.
As a fabricator, my boss is now very reluctant to take orders from preservationists and restorers without 'money up front'. This is because so many order and run away, or can't pay. Funnily enough a load of Routemaster panels were skipped because of this and only from reading these websites by chance in recent days have I realised what a disaster this is for genuine honest restorers because of meddlers and wheeler dealer time wasters.

I have to say how enjoyable this site is in it's basic adherence to factual information and equally the other site for its often poignant expressions, pointless rants and the bizarre use of CAPITALS ! Very amusing ! It's like BBC2 and ITV of old! Long may they both last.

Can I ask you who you work for? Its totally ridiculous to throw away RM panels when there are a number of readers on this Forum who have a number of buses between them and may well have been able to have taken them. We have a couple of RMs, and also a lot of RTs, but flat panels are not hard to come by or make, but we are always looking for sources of bus materials, like specialist bolts (RT N/S wing assembly bolts), seat bolt washers and pressed items like RT front number plates. I am sure others can suggest RM parts that are hard to find including half shafts. Perhaps you can let us know what you are capable of producing in the way of bus stuff?

Re: Pictures

I will have to talk to my boss first before I go ahead and name our company.
He is away for a few days this week.

What I can tell you is he would sooner trash stuff in the recycling than give it away, or sell it on. No matter how rare or complex it was to reproduce. I have to be careful here. I don't agree with him on this but he and sales feel that too much effort goes wasted trying to find committed buyers to pick up cancelled orders or unpaid uncollected orders, even when it's offered free. Space and storage along with all sorts of rules and regulations mean the stuff is not so easy to store these days.

We've had trouble with car clubs and, as several of our staff are ex LT, have often produced bits for buses. But We've had several who have come in here talked the talk but left us stuck with stuff or have simply had samples made up and never hear from them again.
I know it's been similar at a rival down the road and at a sister company in Stevenage.

Re: Pictures

Thanks for your comments on this forum. The quality of the material here is entirely due to the knowledge and skill of the contributors.

We wait to hear about your remanufacturing capabilities. I'm sorry you have had bad experiences with bus owners in the past.

It is actually fairly straightforward to put pictures on this site, or insert links to pictures or information elsewhere on the net.

When posting it is possible to see the instructions by clicking the bb_code link when you enter your message.

Re: Pictures

After a quick chat, I can put the firms address.
On the premise that the MD does not get a barrage of complaints about what has gone before, so please refrain, enough has been said here already.
We can make almost any alloy or steel body panel/component and from either correct original drawings or from a perfect original.

Naturally, bulk orders are going to be much cheaper than one offs

Re: Pictures

Ah! The Polish panel bender returns! Been a very long time.
Can say though, that PAG are very good and we have used them many times in the past when Peter was there. I believe he has retired Tom?
