Good morning all!

Has anyone out there at least a copy of the wiring diagram for RMC doors??

This request is URGENT as the bus is due to be presented for test on 2nd July.

Thanks

Re: RMC door wiring diagram reqd - URGENT

I would be grateful for the sight of one too please. These doors are a ****** nightmare. Once they are working properly they seem to go out of adustment quite quickly.

If your test is class 6 then you have a problem, because they have to open and close properly and fully 5 times consecutively with the engine off. Class V 'ought' not to be a problem, if the emergency exit door is OK.

Dave Kreisler is the expert.

RMC doors

I can't really say I've experienced working on the doors of RMC or RCLs but we did have a few RMA trainers through.
My guess is that they are the same in all but position but I may be wrong.

However, a few common problems with the door operation did materialise and recurr. Some of which were spotted only by chance.

The swivel joints and all points of friction need to be cleaned carefully and greased with a waterproof silicon based light friction grease rather than ordinary grease.

WD-40 is superb for freeing up and low friction but needs doing almost weekly.

The motor can has a cast base held with two or three bolts. This casting cracks and often in a place where it cannot be spotted. This upsets the alignment of the cam linkages and the doors wont fully open or close.
Every time the doors are pushed open or closed by hand to their correct position the tension on the casting is increased and it will break.
The casting can be repaired by carefully stitching and drilling to insert long bolts to retain the mounting flanges.
On one RMA (53, I think) we also fitted fibre washers under the base of the casting and on the upper face. This one never came back for more attention. So maybe it worked.

Inside the motor the contacts and set up is very like a Lucas DR3a self park wiper motor setting is a bit trail and error. I don't think we ever saw a notice from the CME on the correct set up or any mods.

The drivers control were made by the same manufacturer as Metro-Cammell used for tube train controls and the components are similar. We sent the units to a bloke at Acton Works who used to completely renew all the electrical bits inside, contacts, springs etc.
As the C69 1967 and A60 stock all still exist it may be that parts also remain or that a depot has a fitter who specialises in the refurbishment of the units, not for much longer though.
