Matt where was this bus kept before you got it? The state of the exterior suggests lengthy iutside storage, was that the case?

My bus number (if any): RTL 960 RMC 1458 RM 1585 and several RTs

Re: RML 2547 Upper Deck restoration pics

Yes Brian it stood outside for a while at Wembley Metroline depot from 2003-08, then was in a yard in Cheshire until March 2010 when it was delivered and is now under cover in dry storage.

Once the seats are fixed in it is going in another building so will power wash it off underneath and on top before doing the repainting. I use HMG brushing paints which are very nice to use.

Thanks

You will find that a Routemaster benefits from undercover storage Matt as RML2271's paint-job still has a nice glossy look to it.

Yes Graham, that's why i was set on undercover storage, unfortunately Red is not a hard wearing colour when exposed to rain, grime, sun etc.

It may cost a bit more to get undercover but when you think of the cost of paint it is worth the extra!

I know when I lived in the South it was very difficult to find covered storage due to the high value of land.

Thanks

Re: RML 2547 Upper Deck restoration pics

I think we are a bit luckier in Scotland Matt as RM759's owner Michael Roulston charges only £47 per month for undercover storage at his premises. RML2600's owners are bringing their bus in either this week or next.

I'm near Hereford and storage isn't too expensive at present, plenty of farms with big barns here as well!
