tacho

I know this has been discussed before but not sure what the latest thinking is. Has anyone successfully fitted an analogue tacho to a Routemaster while keeping the original speedometer working? Transmission/engine are old style. What parts are needed and how hard is it to do? Thanks, Sam.

My bus number (if any): RM1353

Re: tacho

I have been unable to do this on an RM. I have been told of two ways to do it but have been unable to find the necessary parts.

1st way. Fit an inline tacho sender between the speedometer drive shaft and the speedometer generator.

2nd way. Fit a magnetic sender and castellated pickup to the cardan shaft between the gearbox and differential. This type of sender is more common on aircraft and motorbikes.

I'd be grateful for any advice on this as I want to fit a tacho to my GS so that I can operate it for hire and reward.

My bus number (if any): RMs 238, 471, 2213 and GS17
