NbFL

There is a reasonable article about this in the current edition of the trade magazine Route One.

Please can we avoid mentioning our feelings about past or present Mayors of London or TFL in any replies!

I was pleasantly surprised to find so many features that pay homage to the original design.

My bus number (if any): RMs 238, 471 & 2213. GS 17

Re: NbFL

Having read the article in RouteOne, the bus seems quite impressive.

One thing that struck me from a marketing point of view is the height. If TfL and Wrights were serious about the export market, surely they would have been better developing it as a 4m decker, thereby opening up the whole of the European and American market.

The rear end reminds me of a Tillings ST with the open staircase, pleasingly retro!

But I note that with only 62 seats and an unladen weight of 12 tonnes, it still comes nowhere near the seats per tonne weight of the original RM!

And as for fuel consumption, my Cummins RML does about 15mpg.

My bus number (if any): RML2532

Re: NbFL

I am already saving up to buy one for preservation! Anyone bet on how many years they will last in London service?

My bus number (if any): RM577

Re: NbFL

A Routemaster it certainly is NOT!

In my humble Opinion for it is worth it is a vanity project.

I personally do not like it and why because it keeps getting called the New Routemaster, any link on this NBFL is Routemaster this and Routemaster that. Frankly i will keep to looking at my proper Routemaster. Let us see whether this project will stand the test of time. If they are that good they will still be running when i reach 70.
