Query for Steve Newman

Hi Steve, I was looking on Ian's Bus stop and noticed STD171 (HLW100) still exists in Nova Saad ,Serbia and ST798 is in Haifa,Israel at a naval Museum.Might they be possible repatriation prospects?.The STD as it is the only one in existance?

My bus number (if any): none yet!

Re: Query for Steve Newman

Jim

I saw the STD when I worked in Bosnia during the 90's I have since written to them on a couple of occasions but never been even given the courtesy of a reply.

The ST I have discussed with the Israelis a few times and thought at one point we would get somewhere. They however decided it was an 'important part' of their naval heritage and would not let it return home. However, one good thing was after all the correspondence it did seem to finally get some TLC spent on it.

I continue to keep an eye out for any news on them or anyone who may have an 'in' and should either situation change and they looked to dispose of them we would be more than ready to repatriate them to save part of our transport heritage

Steve

Re: Query for Steve Newman

Hi all, thanks for that response Steve re STD171 and ST798,Sadly Jim because of the Lez and the nature of most of Ensigns work being in London, there would be no use for T66 or T747 (T1983),allthough from a unique point of view it would be good if T747 (T1983) was purchased and kept in it's unique livery, much like has being done with DMS2646.

My bus number (if any): none yet!

T66 and T747/1983 are both safely in preservation in their special liveries : with Upminster and District Preservation and Bromley Bus Preservation Group respectively.
