Thirty years ago

I`m hoping that this will be my first successful attempt at posting a picture...

Here`s RM 1903 in West Ham Garage on January 11th 1983 - with a sore head having had an argument with a house the previous day.

By this time many withdrawn but intact RM`s were at various LT premises but surprisingly several collision damaged buses such as this one were rebuilt at Aldenham and returned to service.

Re: Thirty years ago

Great pic Neil. Yes it did seem strange that RM 1903 got repaired, no doubt had it had a Leyland engine or Simms electrics it would have got scrapped. Seem to remember it got stolen off the forecourt in the early hours and ended up embedded in a betting shop in New Barn Street. It went for scrap two and half years later.

Re: Thirty years ago

So, what were the odds on it appearing on an internet site thirty years later? !!

Re: Thirty years ago

Well Neil I'd say about as likely as us meeting up on Monday at Southampton Docks with a RM that we both worked on 28 years ago that got exported to the USA !!
