Re: query re RM40 & 50

Here's the extract from Association magazine 62:

So for the record, 98 Routemasters attended the [Routemaster 50] event over the weekend, and they were:
RM1, (RML) 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 16, 24, 44, 120, 158, 254, 349, 428, 450, 470, 471, 506, 529, 613, 642, 655, 737, 765, 795, 809, 912, 938, 980, 999, 1000, 1001, 1101, 1224, 1274, 1368, 1397, 1414, 1562, 1641, 1650 (SRM3), 1699, 1804, 1859, 1871, 1989, 1990, 2023, 2037, 2107, 2116, 2180, 2213, 2217.
RMC4, 1453, 1456, 1459, 1461, 1469, 1476, 1477, 1485, 1507, 1510, 1513.
RME1.
RMF1254,
RML880 (ER), 885, 900, 903, 2299, 2310, 2317, 2414, 2419, 2445, 2446, 2456, 2579, 2620, 2665, 2699, 2701, 2735, 2755, 2760.
RCL2220, 2223, 2229, 2233, 2240.
FRM1.

Therefore, Routemaster 50 beat RM40 (just) and was the largest ever gathering of Routemasters at one event (if not the largest ever gathering of one type of bus ever organised).

In addition, invited vehicles for the Important London Bus types parade on the Sunday were K424, T31, T219, STL2377, T504, RT2177, RTL139, RTW29, and RF366.
Other vehicles in attendance were B-ZU-629H from Berlin in Germany, Metrobus M1349 which was used as the turn-over demonstration by Queens Motors, hospitality bus DW93 from Arriva, Leyland National mobile shop GAU728L, Arriva Darts PDL16 and 18 for the pasting of adverts and London Central Dart DML17 for the bus pull on the Saturday.

Re: query re RM40 & 50

Jim,

The LT Museum don't just want mechanics. They require cleaners, people to sort collections, front of house operatives and a whole host of other jobs. I was once at the Cobham AGM the year Aldenham Works was being demolished, (It took six months). I mentioned that the signs were still on the exterior of the building and someone next to me said "someone should be doing something about this". They had no intention of doing anything themselves, they preferred to let someone else get involved. I leaned over and said to the individual "I am doing something about this what are you going to do" He didn't reply. I however assisted in the removal of the sign from the front of the building and it is now displayed at Acton. I also recovered the sign from the side of the building and it is at Cobham. Get stuck in Jim, join the Friends and make a positive contribution. You'll enjoy it. They do use drivers and I have had the pleasure of driving RM 1, RCL 2249, FRM 1 and DMS 1. The kettle is always on.
