AEC Head Gasket Information

Been asked by a friend for some info on AEC head gaskets. After a bit of searching in an old LT Routemaster instruction manual I found what he was after. Thought it would be helpful to post it here too.

And a few pics of MD 60 at the Busworks ( hope its OK Mod? ). There's a sort of link to Routemasters only if it is to show that the MD's were no match to RM's on the 36 group of routes ( or was it because of PM and NX lack of maintenance ?)

My bus number (if any): KRH 411P ( Rusty !! )

Re: AEC Head Gasket Information

As the LT number may not mean much these days, do we know who the "trader" is and if those numbers are recognised today elsewhere?

My bus number (if any): RTL 960, RMC 1458 RM 1585, M 961, M 271 and several RTs

Re: AEC Head Gasket Information

Can't help with the "Trader" info, but thought it would be more help in identifying "new" old stock parts. Not sure if it was only an LT procedure to skim the blocks therefore requiring different thickness head gaskets.

My bus number (if any): KRH 411P ( Rusty !! )

Re: AEC Head Gasket Information

It's useful to know the amount of metal removed tying in with the gasket size.
