roof insulation....?

As I delve deeper into 1842, considering improvements to be made, Insulation keeps popping up.
I appreciate that living in a glass house one shouldn't throw stones, nor expect to be cool on a hot day, and vice versa.
However, some judicially applied insulation might help comfort levels and also reduce condensation....

Has anybody tried anything that they can, or can not, recommend?

Standard practice on bus/ lorry to motor home conversions is to slap on kingspan or whatever then cover with A nice bit of stripped pine t&g. I'm keen to preserve as much of the classic curves and features as possible so I'm looking at the 10mm gap in ceiling tapering to 40mm gap above the window line.
I've had suggestions which have included, "squirty foam" - messy to "aerogel" - to expensive.

What do professionals use? Is it worth doing? ....

Cheers
Ian
