starter cable. copper not ally

With reference to previous posts...

The nice AEC apprenticed man who has just rebuilt my starter motor recommends using welding cable.
Allegedly flexible and strong enough for the job, he will solder and seal the ends on.
Also talked about some magic stuff to keep water and air out of electrical connections to stop corrosion and future resistance issues. I'm guessing does same job as Vaseline on battery terminals, but some how penetrates deep inside on a microscopic level. More likely used on marine applications? Anyone have a view....?

Re: starter cable. copper not ally

I used welding cable with swaged connectors. Unfortunately very expensive.

Re: starter cable. copper not ally

Is that very expensive because copper is anyway or compared to, say, commercial vehicle factors price....?
What's difference between swaged and soldered. 'scuse my ignorance, compounded by laziness of not Googleing it myself ;-) I'm a bit interwebed out after researching electric vehicle speed controllers!

Re: starter cable. copper not ally

I presume by swaged he means the ends are crimped on with a special machine.
