Momento from 1979

There`s something rather nostalgic about other things in this picture of Shillibeer liveried RM 2184 taken on October 21 1979. The Austin Cambridge and the old style Southern Region sign would both be potentially `collectable`.

Although Mortlake was so very associated with the 9 route, the allocation of a Shillibeer liveried RM to the route went to the share of it at Riverside Garage.
Mortlake got a `Shillibeer` bus (RM 2142) which came with strict instructions that it was only to be used on the 33`s - and 73`s on Sundays. On no account was it to be used on the 9`s in order not to ruin the exclusivity afforded to the advertiser. Believe me, I tried to get it on the 9`s in the hope of getting a picture of it and 2184 together but to no avail!
