Northern General back axles

Does anyone know if the Northern General back axle hub oil seals are the same as the standard LT ones?

Re: Northern General back axles

Further to our chat yesterday about the guy who can't stop the leak. Two other possibilities for it. Does the owner realise that the bearings are supposed to be packed with grease and not oil? If the hub has oil in it, then the two gaskets between the inner seal housing and the hub, and the seal housing and the inner bearing, become even more important. As we had said presumably the outer seal is being fitted the correct way round. Initially the problem is with this outer seal allowing oil into the hub, the thing is not the easiest to install after all. If the inner is not fitted with care either then it will also give trouble, since it is so tight in the housing and can distort. I generally put the seal in the freezer for an hour and the housing in boiling water for 10 minutes so that it presses in nicely.
