Hi all. I recently found some photos of RML"S being re-engined with Cummins units in the mid- late 90's. (?) Does anybody know how many were re - engined there and does anyone have any more pictures of RM's at the Dennis site,at the time ? Thanks, Andy

Photos of RM/RMLs being re-engined are rare. I tried to track one down for a magazine from a known photographer a few years ago, but alas he could not find it again.

I have a list somewhere in the loft of the ones re-engined by Cummins and the later ones completed by Volvo. I will dig it out one of these Winter nights.

I contacted the 'Dennis Society' but they had no joy either.
The photos l found were in an October 1994 edition of the lan Allan publication' Buses'. It was an Rm special and most of the photos in it are by A.MORGAN (!!) and the ones at Dennis's are by RT MORGAN (!!)

Yes, that was / is me. But alas the one photo of an RML being re-engined was by Mr RT Morgan and he has vanished ........

......unless he is out there somewhere ?


Incidentally, I think there were 354 RMLs re-engined with Cummins C-series engines between 1990 and 1994. (I will have to look for the list which shows the breakdown as to whether they were completed by Dennis or not.)

The plot thickens! (big admirer of your work in RM preservation and documentation by the way) The guy at the Dennis Society did say that he was told the RML work was 'overspill' work from another contractor (subbed out? ) and the number was low....
