RML 2317 in Brighton

RML 2317 is running on a sea front service in Brighton during the main summer season until September 13th. Operating hourly with the Station as the start/finish point, a circular route is covered using a large section of the sea front road outward and return (detouring into the main part of Hove) and in so doing provides the only bus service along the coast road. Surprising isn`t it that no other scheduled services run there. It addresses a presumed need in peak Summer time. The round trip takes about forty minutes and there`s a flat fare of just £2 to do this. So a trip to Brighton could include a bit of Routemaster `mileage` though it would be best to check their website in advance to know the dates (mainly weekends) when the RML will be elsewhere on private hires to be replaced by something less iconic on sea front service 10. Major road works on the sea front have over-run to now be ongoing through the next few weeks and thus at busy times could easily cause late running in slow traffic. But at least it makes it slightly easier to grab a picture!

Here`s the bus on July 17th on the sea front and at the Station. The interior is unusual as a refurb but with original moquette.
