Awaiting a future

The process of buying back redundant London Country Routemasters proved to be a long drawn out one for LT until in the summer of 1979 it suddenly gained pace. Many such examples initially went into storage at the docks until the better ones deemed to be worthy of recertification were sent to garages all over the fleet to be done as overtime projects.

RMC 1474 went to Kingston for continued storage and it`s seen here in the yard across the road from the garage on Dec 1st 1979. The chalk wording on the windscreen reads `batts flat`. No great surprise there........
