Tyre Pressures

Hello All,
What air pressure should the front and rear tyres of my RML be, please?

My bus number (if any): RML 2672

Re: Tyre Pressures

Hi Alan

I put 95psi in fronts and 90psi in the rears.

Re: Tyre Pressures

It depends on the type of wheel, type of tyre and use. If you run the bus light, you can drop the pressure a little to reduce bounce and increase road adhesion.

If you use it for it's purpose, then the pressures should be as spec for the wheel and tyre type.

Re: Tyre Pressures

LT normal standard for RM`s was 110 front and 70 rear.
Don`t know about RML spec.

Re: Tyre Pressures

LT spec may not be right, depends as some said on the type of tyres, cross-ply, radial, or tubeless!

Re: Tyre Pressures

I have a couple of sheets of info that I have compiled for Routemasters that I use.
If anyone spots any errors I would be pleased to know.

Re: Tyre Pressures

Brilliant Rob - very helpful - thanks (wheel nut socket size 5/8th Whitworth or 28mm)

Re: Tyre Pressures

Sounds very useful; I'd suggest using an ATF or ATX in the flywheel and gearbox rather than the original spec SAE30 as this is far better suited for the application.

I got that info from Tony Lewis at Cobham Museum as he used to work in oil technology research and told me years ago that he was involved in the development of psv oils especially those for auto transmissions. The ATF/ATX has a much higher flashpoint than SAE30.
