Precision parking

The long row of perfect symmetrically parked buses at the RM 60 event was certainly memorable. And similarly at other rallies in recent years. But it may come as a surprise to know that the person responsible for such meticulous parking was just as adept at doing this many years ago when he was Garage Foreman at Fulwell.

When LT bought back the redundant Airport Routemasters, they went into storage anywhere that had spare capacity. Often just singularly, sometimes more, I don`t think any garage came close to getting as many for storage as Fulwell did. Out in the back yard there were so many that it wasn`t possible to stand somewhere to get them all into a picture. It probably wasn`t long before this line up was thinned out as conversion to Staff Buses and Trainers began. The date of the pictures is April 7 1979 - a date well known in LT history. From Fulwell I went on to Barking for the last day of RT`s.

Re: Precision parking

Yes!!!

Re: Precision parking

Bit puzzled here, wasn't Robbo garage Foreman at Fulwell in 1979 or Geoff Stoute?

My bus number (if any): RTL 960, RMC 1458, RM 1585 and many RTs

Re: Precision parking

Well, I didn`t want to refer to anyone by name without first asking them.
But you obviously know the answer!

Re: Precision parking
