A dead RM in Kings Road?

Shows an unidentified RM on it's side in Kings Road! Lots of other transport photos on the Back Track Fulham site including trams, trolleys and trains.

My bus number (if any): RML2532

Edited to add there's so many bus photos on that site, the Homepride bus, rare rear views of RMs at Hammersmith, pre-war RTs at Chelverton Road on the 28s, pre-war RT and LT on driver training, trolleybuses...slurp slurp.

Re: A dead RM in Kings Road?

Type into Google `overturned bus in Kensington 1978` and then open the Saatchi Art site. The photo of the bus can then be viewed `full screen`.

This is the incident that I mentioned on here quite a while back.
It`s RM 1879 and it was hit broadside by a Fire Engine whilst crossing a junction. The damage wasn`t actually too severe considering what happened and after repair it returned to service at Merton Garage. But the repair created an rare `mistake` in that the third window from the back on the offside upper deck that should have been an opening one became a non-opening one - effectively swapping places with the one second from back. It ran like this until next overhaul!

There are a lot of these sites on facebook, Hammersmith old skool (sic) London and East End, Routemaster Appreciation etc. If you want to see London buses, go to London & UK Buses, Trolleybuses and trams, it normally hoovers up relevant posts from these different groups.

My bus number (if any): RTL 960, RM 1585, RMC 1486 and several RTs
