In Barking Garage

When I took this picture on April 4 1979 the end of RT`s was just three days away and I couldn`t have known that this one, 624, would go into the history books as the last one in service. It`s not exactly in a presentable state here and neither are RM`s 193 and 396. But that was rather typical of Barking Garage........

RM 193 is of interest. Here it has body 133 which was one of only a few dozen to undergo five overhauls. Most RM`s had three or four and, predictably, it was mainly the lower numbered bodies that had five. A year after this picture was taken it was overhauled again and became RM 273. Then on a further overhaul in 1983 it became RM 238. So, Chris, that scruffy looking bus in Barking Garage in 1979 is now in your care and no doubt looks a whole lot better!

Re: In Barking Garage
