Canopy panel inspection light socket

Something Brian mentioned in an earlier post regarding the 'mystery Part' was the canopy panel inspection light socket on the early RMs
RM14 which has body No B23 should have this plate/inspection socket. Does anybody know what body number they discontinued using this plate. I am almost certain that RM8 does not have one, why would that be?

My bus number (if any): RM7

Canopy panel inspection light socket MOD 67

Rob, As set out in the previous post, the socket was covered over on B 105 and B 109 had a cover plate from new so somewhere between these two bodies. RM 14 has the socket and the cover plate riveted over the top.

My bus number (if any): RM 912

Re: Canopy panel inspection light socket MOD 67

There were actually two cover plates. The first one just covered the lamp socket, the wiring was left in place, the later plate on RTs and RMs covered the larger hole on panels that had been made with the hole.

The reason for early bodies not having a canopy panel with a hole or a cover plate or socket, was simply that the panel was changed. We changed a lot of these on overhaul due to corrosion from water leaks on the heater system, particularly along the front edge.
This the original plate on RTL 672

My bus number (if any): RTL 960, RM 1585, RMC 1486 and several RTs
