RM 1568, RML 2524, & RF 269 for sale

I noticed tonight that RM 1568 is up for sale.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Routemaster-RM-/291462297370?hash=item43dc81b71a

So far it's reached the heady heights of £104 on eBay.

It has the original moquette in the interior, with signs of a partial refit, or a partial restoration, depending on your point of view!

Description reads;

"Known world wide is the iconic London Bus. This example has the original style tartan check trim.

Just had some touch up work to paint & a new Class 6 MOT it also has a Class 5. The vehicle is ready to use for pleasure or Hire or Reward.

Has the Cummins Engine & Auto Gearbox

Sensible offers as not in a rush to sell"

Located in Gloucester, maybe it will find a good home.

Then I noticed the same seller had RML 2524 up for sale. It's In the later Shillibeer livery for the Routemaster 50th.

And RF 269 too!;

I hope this info is useful to someone.

My bus number (if any): RML 2561 (Well the bits I managed to save anyway!)

Re: RM 1568, RML 2524, & RF 269 for sale

This is the second time these vehicles have been listed on eBay, last week all 3 failed to reach the sellers reserve price despite lots of bids...

RM1568 high bid of £50,100

RML2524 high bid of £29,100

RF269 high bid of £36,100

If they were my vehicles I would have sold all 3 at those prices!

Looking at the sellers other items it appears they are a dealer specialising in E Type Jags and other vintage cars, so clearly not an enthusiast, but someone trying to make a quick profit.

My bus number (if any): RM1783

Re: RM 1568, RML 2524, & RF 269 for sale

If only I had the space, oh, and the cash, I'd have bid for the RF.

Still, those look like decent prices David, so I can't see why they never sold.

Better to have £115,000 in the bank I would have thought.

Then again I have no idea how much they should sell for, so I could be talking absolute tosh!

Re: RM 1568, RML 2524, & RF 269 for sale

Those are bargains compared to RT3768, on Ebay in Mexico:

Yours for a Buy It Now of $420,000... (or best offer)!

I have just found this pic from 1989:

I wonder if this is the bus which was videod being lifted by straps through the lower saloon windows?

Phil.

Re: RM 1568, RML 2524, & RF 269 for sale

One of my customers in Germany paid 60,000euro for an open-top RT converted to a bar. the gearbox seized up on delivery, no oil it; the engine blew up 2 years ago (broken crank shaft). He recently sold it on as a non-runner for an undisclosed sum.

As for the RF price, with something like 200 still in existence according to one website, I'm surprised anybody's interested. Last one I bought for dismantling cost £1000.

My bus number (if any): RML2532,GS67,MLL721,MLL738 and an RT.

Re: RM 1568, RML 2524, & RF 269 for sale

2 of these buses are from London Bus 4 Hire South Wales
The RF was in there fleet and the legals on the side of the RM say
M Detheridge London Bus 4 Hire , Usk Momouthshire.

I called in at there workshop a month ago and there was about 11 RMs/RMLs and a lovely old AEC coach there having some paint work done.
