At Richmond bus stand

it was thirty two years ago today that Mortlake Garage closed.
A few days before closure I took many pictures of Mortlake buses along the 9 and 33 routes such as this one at Richmond on June 20 1983. The chrome wheel trims had been removed by Neil T in preparation for the transfer of RM 1354 to Camberwell as they probably wouldn`t have been appreciated there. It was this bus that was the first to be `fully chromed` at Mortlake.

Re: At Richmond bus stand

Sadly, RM1354 was scrapped just over two years later in August 1985.

My bus number (if any): RM967 (Driver/Restoration consultant)

Re: At Richmond bus stand

Where's all those years gone? So many happy memories of Mortlake Garage.

Re: At Richmond bus stand

And the following day there was an open day at Plumstead Garage, during this event the final MD ran in London Transport service.
