RM and Atlantean

Thirty two years ago today RM 1563 was withdrawn from service.

Whilst it was the Mortlake Garage Showbus we had some good trips out of London going to rallies but also, through friends made, to other operators by invitation. Southampton was a place that we visited a few times and in turn we hosted a group from the City Transport department by taking them around various places on LT including tours around Chiswick Works and Northumberland Park Victoria Line Depot which included a cab ride on a train leaving there to take up service.

Here on November 22 1981 we`re at Woolston beneath the bridge over the River Itchen that had opened four years earlier. The Atlantean is a 1978 example, one of a numerous class that became the backbone of the SCT fleet once
replacement of their AEC crew operated double deckers got underway.
