Proposed new ULEZ

Having taken Lynda Crane's thread a bit off-course, I made noises at the recent CPT meeting about the use of historic buses in the proposed extended ULEZ.

The TfL website offers this exemption:
"Historic vehicles

All vehicles that have a 'historic' vehicle tax class will be exempt from the ULEZ. This tax class excludes any vehicle used commercially. Read the eligibility criteria for the historic vehicle exemption on Gov.uk.

Vehicles built before 1 January 1973 will also be exempt from ULEZ. These vehicles were built
before emissions standards came into force and are exempted because of their unsuitability for
engine conversion or replacement."

So it seems our beloved Routemasters, RTs and the like will be exempt as they are now, regardless of use. So those of you who have Titans, Metrobuses, Olympians and the like that still have a PSV tax and are post 1973, you can use them in the ULEZ but will have to pay the daily penalty.

My bus number (if any): RML2532
