RMC/RCL rear suspension air bags

Are these available anywhere? If so anyone got any idea of current prices? Thanks

My bus number (if any): RTL 960, RMC 1458, RM 1585 and several RTs

Re: RMC/RCL rear suspension air bags

I would suggest that you put it on springs
It took me a day to convert BEA1 to springs
Once done no need to worry about sticking valves or leaking air bags

My bus number (if any): BEA 1. BEA2

Re: RMC/RCL rear suspension air bags

Thanks Rob
What would be the cost of that? Are coil springs available, and if other parts are needed, what is the supply situation of those. It's not our bus, it's the former companion of my RMC in NW France that needs the bag replaced.

Re: RMC/RCL rear suspension air bags

Rear spring packs are still about, and then a pair of rear shocks.
Not sure what they would cost you, front springs are hard to get hold of, but not rear, they never seem to give any trouble.
Guessing 250 - 300 for the kit plus a set of rear shocks.

When I converted to springs, BEA1 then failed its MOT, as there were bolt holes in the rear B frame with no bolts in them.
Had to take it home and fit nuts and bolts where the old valves and shocks were fitted.returned to test centre and passed.

Re: RMC/RCL rear suspension air bags

Thanks Rob. Very helpful and much appreciated.
Can rear shocks be obtained easily? I'm assuming being Routemasters the holes etc are already on the B Frame.
Was getting the bags out of the tubes hard?
I assume you have to cap off or remove the air pipes to the rear tank and bags? When we converted RMs to coils on overhaul some the air piping was removed but we had the body in the air and so not hard to do.

Cheers Brian

Re: RMC/RCL rear suspension air bags

AR113 is the part number for RM air bags, try US military sites for them.

My bus number (if any): RML2532
