Flashing Indicator rubber balls

Sometime back I read that someone had had some of these made. Now I have been told the way to take the stem out, (remove small pin just aboce bottom V) it might be worth replacing them although I have been told that wire or a cable tie round the bottom does tighten the ball up. Does anyone have any or know of a source? Were the replacements up to the job and still avaialable? I think I read somewhere in the bus press that there was a problem with them, so is there a demand for new ones and can anyone get any made?
